The Sacred Buffalo Vision by Robert J. Juneau and Robert C. Juneau pg.118-119

The eight half-breeds owned 97% of the cattle on the reservation. The local whites in border-towns and Commercial Clubs in Cut Bank, Great Falls, Conrad, Valier, Shelby conspired with Superintendent McFatridge and were starving the Blackfeet Indians to force a Blackfeet land cession of 156,000 acres of the irrigated lands, coal and newly discovered oil & gas fields. Chief Inspector E.B. Linnen finally recommended Superintendent Arthur McFatridge be removed as superintendent of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, “We feel absolutely justified in stating that he has made a complete failure as a superintendent. A good, strong, honest and competent superintendent should be promptly placed at Blackfeet in his stead.”
Robert Hamilton reported to the Joint Commission of Congress to Investigate Indian Affairs that: “Superintendent McFatridge had me arrested, and returned to the reservation along with Oliver Sanderville, Wolf Plume, and Young Man Chief, upon the telegraphic order of Arthur E. McFatridge at Cut Bank, a railroad town off the Blackfeet reservation. We were arrested by Deputy Sheriff Richards, of Teton County, Mont., and he was assisted by an agency employee, Joseph W. Brown; that this occurred on the night of January 30, 1913; that the Sheriff stopped us and told us that we could not go any further and held us in jail overnight.
